Film Noir and the techniques that were developed for this style, are still very much with us. Developed in the days of silent black and white films, as a way to build ambiance and portray emotions, the style has remained a major part of present day film making and photography. This is a fun style to play around with and photographers of all levels can produce power full images with very little equipment. One off camera flash producing hard light and a fill card can produce some amazing results. If you want to give it a try there are dozens of how-tos on YouTube, that cover the subject. In these two images, I wanted to go for the 50’s-60’s movie look, from the private detective to deep cover spy.
