Surrealism is my favorite style of art, and Salvador Dali is on the top of my “three people from history I would love to have a beer with” list.  Surrealism has been an influence in photography from almost its invention.  Dali himself dabbled in photography as a medium.  Surrealism is something every photographer should experiment with for two important reasons. First, it just makes you think creatively.  And second, it forces you to learn photoshop inside and out.  Learning to construct an image from other images and selling it as a seamless alternate reality will improve your editing skills across the board.
